Setting up professional email on your domain

An email address on your own domain, like you@yourbusiness.com instead of a free webmail account, is one of the fastest ways to look established. Every Byytes Shared, Reseller, and VPS plan includes mailbox hosting, here's how to set it up.

1. Create a mailbox

From your account panel, go to Email → Create Account. Pick an address (like hello@yourdomain.com), set a password, and choose a storage quota. This works whether your domain's nameservers point to Byytes or you've only added our MX record separately.

2. Confirm your MX record is set

If Byytes manages your DNS, mail routing is configured automatically when you create a mailbox. If you're using another DNS provider, add this MX record pointing to Byytes' mail servers:

Use these settings in Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird, or your phone's mail app:

Or skip the manual setup entirely and use Byytes Webmail, available from your account panel, no client configuration required.

4. Improve deliverability with SPF and DKIM

To keep your outgoing mail out of spam folders, add these two records, both auto-generated in your account panel under Email → Authentication:

• SPF, a TXT record that lists which servers are allowed to send mail for your domain.
• DKIM, a TXT record that lets receiving servers verify your mail wasn't tampered with in transit.

Both are one-click to add if Byytes manages your DNS. If you're using an external DNS provider, copy the exact values shown in your panel into TXT records there.

5. Set up forwarding, if you want it

Prefer to keep using your existing Gmail or Outlook inbox? Create the mailbox on Byytes as above, then add a forwarder under Email → Forwarders to redirect it to your personal address. You can still reply from your domain's address if your webmail provider supports send-as.
